Day 66 – Gravitational Force Lab

Mon. Dec 9, 2013

Chemistry 1 – Groups whiteboarded their results from the Boiling Water Lab.  On their boards they included a sketch of their graph, including the slope of the rising temperature line and average value of the boiling temperature line.  They also answered, Why does the temperature “level off?” and What is in the bubbles?  (Thanks to Mr. Kilbane for that idea!)

Physics 1 – We began by generating a list of ideas that could possibly affect the Force we call gravity.  We want to develop a quantitative model for this force we’ve been talking about for a couple of weeks.  Above you will see the notes from our pre-lab discussion, and the experimental set up most groups used.

Chemistry 2 – Students are studying Functional Groups, structures, and names of organic compounds from within those groups.  An activity guide is leading them to understand the differences between each group and how to properly name compounds within that group.
